My boyfriend hates black-eyed peas. I don’t blame him. Just about everywhere you go, you find the same gritty, muddy textured peas sitting in a thick, pasty gravy that ends up looking grey and unappealing. However, I love black-eyed peas — I just don’t love everybody’s. Not too many people make this dish the proper way, and the end result is usually a mushy, mealy, disrespectful version of this southern classic. I literally sat in bed this morning with my sweety and concocted this burger in my head. I knew the flavors would be amazing and I didn’t let myself down, because this is probably one of my top 5 favorite burgers I’ve ever made. Ever. It’s really amazing. I know you want the low-down on how to make it, so let’s get right to it.

Growing up, I’ve always eaten a version of this soup that looked more like a bowl of watery cheese with a few sad chunks of broccoli florets tossed in. I’ve always thought that was how broccoli-cheese soup was supposed to look, as well as taste. That turned out to be pure horsepucky.

My goodness. Just look at this. Makes absolutely no sense. I’m sure you’re ready to kick your standard shrimp and grits recipe up a few notches, right? This isn’t a bad way to start. This was really good, and if I recall, we immediately snuggled up afterward and took an epic nap. It was raining outside, so this was the perfect bowl of warmth and love, but with flair.

I made these waffles for my boyfriend on our anniversary, and I think it’s safe to say he isn’t going anywhere lol. They are absolutely divine. Grilled peaches adorn a tender, crisp, fluffy waffle, followed by a sweet blueberry maple syrup that just seals the deal. Sign yourself up!

ERMAHGERD! We’re only a few days into Summer, officially…and I already hate it. Y’all, it’s unbearably hot outside. As soon as I open my front door, I am attacked by the hot sweaty steam of Satan’s scrotes. It aint fun! This heat makes my soul so weary. I can’t even enjoy normal activities because it’s just so damn hot outside. My car read 109 degrees yesterday and I basically cried — are we being punished?? Anyway, as long as I have these delicious lil boozed up cupcakes to cool me off, I won’t complain too much…for now lol.
